New Propane Gas Compressor Project was awarded by ONGC as a part of revamp of LPG plant at ONGC, Uran with a targeted completion period of 22 months with PMC EIL Baroda. The project had to be built in a gas processing plant which was 30 years old.
Though the project size was relatively small; all engineering disciplines were critical to it. viz. RCC foundation of 10 micron vibration tolerance, structural shed design to withstand a wind speed of 65 KMPH, mechanical piping with majority LTCS pipes and mechanical installation of 3.35 mega watt centrifugal compressor with HT motor. Electricals consisting of HT and LT feeder modification and its revamping along with shifting of 10 MW load. And finally instrumentation including sil-3 PLC and DCS hook-up apart from field instruments and cabling. Moreover, Savair had to address critical Process Design Challenges as a part of the plant data was not available in the old plant.

Challenges
The biggest challenge for this contract was getting the compressor delivery on time as Japan was struck by a Tsunami in the month of March 2011. The second challenge was working in a 30 year old plant and the site was very close to the compressor house where extra safety measures were required to be taken since it was the most hazardous zone of the entire plant. The third challenge in the project was to carry out the job in the Brown field without interrupting the production of LPG adhering to all stringent safety requirements. The project was completed successfully with zero accidents.
